Comments about Airhead Travel Kayak Deluxe 12' 2 Person Inflatable Kayak:
I did a lot of research looking for another inflatable canoe and took a chance on this one based on the specs, as there is little information on the internet about this model. You will find the Sea Eagle entry-level canoes are highly rated/recommended at review sites, and I have an older one. I considered the SE 370 as I wanted a second canoe to go out with my kids, but more leg room. I was intrigued by the liner/bladder configuration on this model, as this seems a more durable setup as you see in some higher end models. I am not disappointed. This is probably the only review you will find of someone who has both SeaEagle and the Airhead Deluxe version. The Airhead is actually called the "Montana" on the box. In short, I found the Airhead actually superior to the SeaEagle in ALMOST every way where it counts. Here are the specifics:
1. Air bladders enclosed in rugged 840-denier nylon shell
2. Better tracking
3. Stiffer bottom/bladder inside another nylon shell, superior to the SE i-beam construction which is similar to pool raft bottom. The Airhead does not bow in the slightest.
4. 2.5' longer than the SE 330/similar to 370
5. Prefer the seats, even to the upgraded SeaEagle seats.
6. Better looking.
SeaEagle advantage:
1. Comes with a carry bag
2. Better instructions
3. includes spray skirts
4. Lighter weight
The Airhead comes with some straps that can make the rolled up kayak more portable, vs. putting it into a bag. I don't mind this as I usually unroll it again at home to let it dry completely and getting it in and out of a bag just seems an extra step. I also don't like the cheaper paddles that some with the SE entry models. I opted for, and recommend the Kwik Tek Deluxe Kayak paddles. For the price, I believe strongly this is the best quality/value for an entry level kayak.
