| Rule-Mate® 500A Fully Automated Bilge Pump The NEW eco-friendly Rule Mate series of Bilge pumps feature a solid state water sensing technology that eliminates the need for a separate float switch. When water enters the bilge and reaches a certain height (2-3/4 inches) a sensor turns the pump on. After the water is pumped out, another sensor shuts the pump off. The sensor's unique "field effect" technology is programmed to recognize the dielectric constant of water only. In the event of an onboard oil spill, straight motor oil that enters the bilge will not turn the pump on. It's part of Rule's continuing commitment to preserving our waterway. I think this would have been a great pump. After installing we tested the automatic feature by submerging pump in a few inches of water and it worked great. Hours later lightning hit our boat and fried all of our electrical equipment. I plan to buy this pump again to replace the fried one.

I install one on the port side and one in the starboard side of my 26' sailboat. I have used Rul Automatic Bigle pumps before and they always work well. Simple install and ease of use.

Great pump. Pump activates at around 2.5 inches of water. Works great in my 14 foot alumacraft. No matter how hard it rains ( Florida ). My boat never has any standing water.
