Comments about Jabsco 12v Water Puppy:
Thought it could hang with my 55 Gallon Tank, However went to turn it on after only a month of usage every sunday and was headed for the bait barge when we finally noticed that it was not pumping, by then you could see it smoking but never blew the fuse. Was able to disassemble and squirt some WD-40 inside to get it working again. It lasted that trip only and shut off again. It is not dependable. I thought Jabsco would be a little better then this.
Pros
- Installs Easily
- Quiet
Cons
- Impractical
Best Uses
- High Usage
Comments about Jabsco 12v Water Puppy:
Although the pump work well if used regularly, it is not good for dry bilges that require minimal pumping. The rubber impeller will eventually stick over extended periods of non-operation and cause the motor to burn up (before blowing the fuse) when it does kick on. I've replaced two in the last three years.
Pros
- Installs Easily
- Practical
- Water Efficient
Cons
Best Uses
- High Usage
- Small Boat
Comments about Jabsco 12v Water Puppy:
I do have an inline screen before this pump to reduce particulates that go through it, but since I use this pump to clear my floor tanks which tend to collect all kinds of sand and garbage from the bottom of the boat, on a good day of fishing I was impressed to see how well it has held up! The design is nice because the pump is operated by a simple impellar design which switches out very easily(I have not had to replace mine yet after a thorough beating) The price is a little steep but this pump really takes a pounding!
