Was looking for an alternative to PowerWinch brand which haven't been very durable--especially the black-cased RC models. The biggest problem is that the cable wraps from the bottom of the spool, which allows it to rub on the trailer frame member near the bow support. Shimmed it up once, will have to do it again. The plug/switch mechanism is tricky to plug in. When launching boat on ramp, can't put in free spool because of tension on cable. Power out really slows down the launching process. Seems durable so far, but is very slow and the galv cable shows rust quickly. Much preferred Power Winch's clutch mechanism and over-the-top spooling. Should have stuck with PW model 912, but they are hard to find.

I've had this winch since 1994 and have had ZERO issues with it. I've had 3 diffrent boats since owning this winch and it's loaded each one with ease. The largest was a 27' Wellcraft, about 6900 lbs. Guys at the boart ramp would be amazed how such a small unit could pull so much.
