I have used baitcasters for a long time for saltwater and have recently started to fish freshwater. This rod can be used as an all-around rod for both. It can be used for heavy fish with no problems. Nice backbone to it. Casting with a 1/2 oz lure on 10# is a breeze and you can cast really long with no problems. Very accurate and just stiff enough to cast a good range of lure weights.
