  • Lo-Mass Drilled Spool System reduces the weight of the spool by drilling, and lowers start-up inertia for more manageable casts.
  • Super Free (SF) bearing supported pinion gear system eliminates friction between the pinion gear and spool shaft for increased freespool.
  • High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) is not only the oversized gears, but also includes the setplate, which allow for a high speed retrieve while providing unbelievable fish-moving torque.
  • Variable Brake System (VBS) uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in controlling the cast for increased distance and adjustability.
  • Super Stopper is a one-way roller bearing that eliminates backplay for solid hooksets.
  • Assist Stopper is a back-up anti-reverse system that reduces the stress placed on the one-way roller bearing to increase durability.
  • 1/4 Turn Easy Access Sideplate this flip up turn key design requires only 1/4 of a turn to remove the sideplate for VBS brake weight adjustments.
  • PV Power Paddles These oversized paddle grips provide extra power and remain comfortable after a full day of deep cranking (200DPV only).
  • Drilled Handle Shank reduces the weight of the reel.
  • Dartainium Drag material provides a wide range of drag settings and the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.
  • Aluminum Frame for tight tolerances and unflexing durability.
  • Recessed Reel Foot allows the reel to sit closer to the rod for comfort and maneuverability.
  • Clicking Drag Adjustment reduces the chance of the drag backing off at light settings while providing the angler a reference point to how much drag they add or reduce by turning the star.
  • Metal Series Metal frames keep moving parts in precise alignment for increased efficiency and durability.
  • Reduced Mass VBS hub reduces the weight of the spool, increasing freespool and reducing start up inertia.

Comments about Shimano Citica C1200D Baitcasting Reel:

I have 3 Citicas that I use for Bay fishing in the Corpus Christi Bay area. I actually prefer to use these reels over the Shimano Chronarchs. Because these reels are about half the price of a Chronarch, that makes them an excellent buy. The retrieval is liquid smooth. With this reel I can effortlessly cast 1/8 -1/4 oz. artifical lures all day long and bring in Redfish that range up to 40"+. I plan to buy more to use as backups. I really don't have any cons though it is about 2 oz. heavier than the Chronarch MG, at that price I can easily overlook that.

Great reel and it outlasted another major brand of similar value but the price is kind of high.
