Bought this as my first saltwater setup (years of freshwater experience) on a Penn Pursuit 9' rod. Great casting distance and smooth retrieve. Gearing seemed like it may have been a little low for such a long retrieve, but then again I just may not be used to casting that far.

Bought the Silverdao to do some light off shore fishing of Spanish Mackerel and dolphin. The weather was good so we headed off shore. 22 miles later we were into BIG AmberJack and Grouper - The Silverado 8000 was a great muiltpurpose reel. That day the Silverado was great for a Double up on Spanish and a couple of heavy hitting AJ's.
