Rule Rule-Mate Series Fully Automatic Pumps contain the pump and the non-mercury float switch in a single, compact housing. As the water level rises, so does the float switch, activating the pump when the water level reaches 2-1/8''. There is no on/off cycling and therefore, no power use until the pump comes on. Features include easy clean snap-lock strainer bases, silent, vibrationless operation, anti-airlock protection, stainless steel shafts, and no burn-out when run dry. 12VDC.

The pump cannot be trusted when left in the automatic mode. It often stays on even after the water has been pumped out and drains the batteries. I have purchased another one to install to see if it will be more trust worthy but have heard the same complaint from others.

It's a great idea in concept but at least in my case it falls short in performance.
