Dielectric grease omits oxygen, water and salt. It is a light grease so spring tension of contacts move it out of the way for a good contact. It is a good insulator too. It DOES NOT CLEAN contacts or remove corrosion, so use it BEFORE rust or corrosion begins. On trailer hitch connectors and other weathered applciations, apply it at least twice each year--at beginning of season and when you put your boat up for the winter.
