The classic sailor''s knife has everything a sailor should carry in his pocket. It has a stainless steel knife, shakle key, and marlinspike. The shackle key opens stubborn shackles, and the marlinspike loosens tight knots and makes splicing a breeze. Handsome polymer wood scales grace the sides, and it includes a hand-sewn leather sheath.

Comments about Authentic Models Captain's Pocket Knife - Holiday Sale, Ends Dec. 24th:

As a preface, I confess that I am not a sailor, yachtsman, nor do I even own a boat. However,I thought I might use this knife in other arenas such as: camping, hunting, fishing, and basic home utility jobs.

The knife comes in a nice wodden gift box with sliding top and is seperated into two sections. One section holds the knife, the other holds a well made hand sewn leather holster with snap top.

The actual knife is of a hefty weight and measures 3 3/4" long when closed. It has a unique simulated wooden handle with "tiger-stripe" style grains which adorne both sides of the handle and is impressive in it's own right.

The knife if made in China, but seems relatively well made and capable of rugged use when needed.
The components are:

1. 2 1/2" long single edged sheep's foot blade.
2. 2" long shackle key (wrench).
3. 2 1/2" talon style Marlin Spike.

The cutting blade is 3/4" wideand appears sturdy enough to cut some of the heavier ropes and cords used on sailing vessels.

The "shackle key" seems a bit crudly cut out and could have been finished better perhaps, but I think it would ultimately serve it's needed purpose.

The "Marlin Spike" is stong, slightly curved, and would easily pull out any those stuborn "granny-knots." people like myself tie in lieu of a "square knot," or "half-hitch."

I took the liberty to wear the knife on my belt all day and found it to be comfortable and well protected by it's snap-in leather case.

Despite the fact, I can not tell you the difference between a "Main Mast" and a "Mizzen Mast", I can tell you that this appears to be a very good knife, especially for the listed price!
It would make any outdoorsman, sailor, or collector a great affordable and unique gift.

I feel this is truly a very good buy!
