If you want your boat lights to be reliable at night I would recommend this light base to anyone who is serious about it. It has a cover to keep the rain out when you do not have your light in place. Also locks your light in with the swivel cover when you are using your lights. I replaced the cheap one that have a rubber cap. Because the cap does not stay in place to keep water out nor do they lock your lights in place when in use. But with these swivel base I know work every time, they keep my lights in place and water out when lights are stored away. Why else do most serious boat builders use these light bases also.

Replaced defective unit with this product. Would have preferred stainless steel but cost was an issue.
