We have a Bass Boat and small children and needed a little help boarding the boat from the water. It hooks on and we can all get in, no problem. It stores with the lifejackets and takes hardly any room.

It does not seem to stabalize with weight. If there is the slightest current, the steps move with the water. Unless you have great upper body strength, you maybe stuck in the water!

I bought this for emergency use to hang on a cleat in case of a man overboard. It's compact and fits into a small space, it seems strong enough. I hope I never have to use it.
