These lid and hatch supports feature a stainless steel spring that moves to a support position when opened. The stainless steel spring than supports the lid, hatch or cover in the open position. When closing simply deflect the spring which allows spring to bend and rotate at the mounting position.

Works as intended. Built for marine enviroment with stainless steel spring and screws. Boaters world lists it with an alum. bracket but is actually a polymer bracket. In any case it is sufficent for the use. My only complaint is the BW discription of the support spring could be better, length, diameter, and construction materials.
