I wanted a simple, cheap gunnel-mounted rig to hold 14 foot light-weight poles for trolling. This was it. Three years ago I bought 2 from Boaters World and needed two modifications: 1) a 3/16" bolt mounted at the right height in (female) pole holder already installed in my gunnels and 2) to remove enought of the rubber at the base on my long poles to get the OD down under the 1 1/8" ID of these stainless pole holders. Result: easy trolling without problems. Only downside is the sheet metal at the base which engage the bolt in the gunnel-mount eventually bend and break. For greater durability try #477390629 for $25 more each. That's still cheap.
