The TYRNOS is Shimano's newest edition in Lever Drag reels. TYRNOS is made with a diecast Aluminum frame for strength and durability. It has oversized gears for increased power and an oversized handle shank for increased torque, a 5.0:1 High Speed gear ratio, a reduced Profile Top Crossbar that provides excellent line control when dropping back baits or lures while trolling and an alternating twin pawl anti-reverse design for reliability and hooksetting power. The Ratcheting drag lever eliminates lever movement due to boat vibration.

Comments about Shimano Shimano Tyrnos 30 Lever Drag Reel:

I live in Florida and Africa 50/50. In the US I have landed dolphin, kings, jacks, tuna, sailfish, along with grouper, snapper, and tilefish. In Africa I have landed many of the same fish along with koontafish and jumbo triples. This reel has never failed or given even a hint of problem. Most of my reels are loaded with 65lb power pro backed with 60lb andy and topped with 100 foot of 60lb mono for shock.

Comments about Shimano Shimano Tyrnos 30 Lever Drag Reel:

Just back from East cape - used this reel on a custom rod for one of the pitch baits. Spooled with backing, 100# Powerpro (perhaps 300 yds)spliced to 80# mono topping off the reel, spliced to leader. Biggest fish on this reel was a 200# plus blue marlin. Very adequate drag and line capacity to bring in this sporty fish with stand-up gear. Lever drag system is similar to Tiagra externally. Angler on fish caught similar blue prior day on Tiagra 50W two speed, says he preferred the Tyrnos . . . worked great in the role we used it.
