A whole new world of possibilities for saltwater fishing!
You have a lot to think about when choosing a new reel. Weight, Drag, Durability, Line Capacity, even a reel's limitations. Shimano has spent countless hours designing a reel that extinguishes most of these so called limitations so that the only obstacle left is, well, yourself. Simply put, all the Calcutta reels were built around possibilities rather than limitations. Calcuttas are built with a forged aluminum frame and feature level wind, Super Stopper clicker and Shimano's Variable Brake System. Advanced reel features make a difference in the heat of battle and Calcutta's are ready for the battle. Shimano's new TE series of baitcast reel take standard Calcutta features one step further. TE stands for ''Total Efficiency'', a concept that represents Shimano's response to the primary challenges of sportfishing, casting and retrieving. For the first time, Shimano has combined their Super Free System and High Efficiency Gearing in a single reel, the TE Series Calcutta. This reel will truly spoil you with its performance!

Comments about Shimano Shimano Calcutta 400 Baitcasting Reel:

Being an avid and life long spin fisher, I never seriously considered using a baitcaster. That is until I observed the uncanny success of an experienced Sockeye salmon fisherman. Thankfully, he noticed my terrible success rate and suggested that a baitcaster would significantly improve my hookup/landing ratio. Since I only purchase the finest tackle, I quickly began concentrating on the CTE400. It offered all of the mandatory functional features: light weight, high line capacity, levelwind, precise drag adjustments, silky, fast retrieves, and yes, it was a beauty. I purchased one for the 2006 Sockeye season on the Kenai, and on the first cast I hooked up and landed the fish. The CTE400 handled the sizzling runs of the 10 lb. Sockeye with finesse, and for the first time ever I landed the first Sockeye that hooked up. This success was repeated several more times. The verdict: The CTE400 is the ultimate reel for Sockeye fishing. It has forced retirement of my favorite spinfisher, the Van Staal 150, for that purpose. This season, it will be taken to sea in search of Silver salmon and the many species of Rockfish available in the waters of the great state of Alaska. Take a bow, Shimano, for a job expertly done!

Comments about Shimano Shimano Calcutta 400 Baitcasting Reel:

I felt like I was driving a brand new sports car when I first started fishing with her. So much power and I will be honest ... I was not all that experienced. I do not have any complaints except that I am so scared that if I treat her wrong and she breaks than I am out [...] bucks. This is not a reel for inexperienced anglers. I made that mistake. This reel is for people who love to fish with a reliable companion. The best reel money can buy.
