Constructed to resist saltwater corrosion. Precision machined gears and spool spindles are stainless steel while other external metal is chrome-plated brass. A power handle helps you crank the fish right in and a rod brace helps keep the reel firmly on the rod. i use the reel almost every weekend and it is great ive caught 3 goliath grouper on it that topped the scales at about 400 pounds and i got atleast 45 hook ups on monster goliaths

Good for stopping big sharks from landbased sources, when matched with appropriate customized rod. [...]However this reel needs the 2nd rod brace included in the box (this reel requires two) or else the reel stand will bend under extreme fishing pressure- waiting to get the big one from the beach with mine!

It can handle any big fish that you want to throw at it. I use it for shark fishing and have no complaints, I do recommend that you use a braided line on this reel because you can wet pack 1200 yards of braid on here instead of the regular 130 lb mono which only allows for 750 yds to be placed on the reel. This reel can handle a lot of use i have seen several of these reels that people bought back in the 70's and are still using them to day.
