This is my first GPS combo unit. Very easy to navigate with and a must have for night navigation.

I haven't had it very long but this summer I will use it more as the weather gets nicer. Fishfinder seems to work great although I've not had much luck fishing so far.

Comments about Lowrance LMS-337C Dual Frequency Fishfinder & WAAS GPS Chartplotter Combo Outfit:

In a little bit more than one year I already had the unit replaced under warranty twice and now it broke again being unable to give me the position! This product is completely unreliable; going through the warranty process is time consuming and tedious, living you with out a GPS on board for a good amount of time!
Personally I will never buy a Lowrance product again!!!

Comments about Lowrance LMS-337C Dual Frequency Fishfinder & WAAS GPS Chartplotter Combo Outfit:

I'm new to boating and I made a test run of my boat on a local lake before going to the coast. I got up at daybreak and left my wife sleeping in the cabin to run my boat out on the lake just after sunrise.I made a short run up lake and into a river that fed the lake (about a 20 min. boat ride), as I approached the river fog dropped covering the entire lake. I was using my 337c with "my trails" feature turned on. I was able to navigate back to the cabin in total fog without incident, the trip took two hours back but I made it safely.

Not a good bet for a center console boat

Comments about Lowrance LMS-337C Dual Frequency Fishfinder & WAAS GPS Chartplotter Combo Outfit:

I had to return this product to Lowrance as it sponaneously powered up and continually flashed on and off after 1 year of limited use. Initially Lowrance wanted to charge $189.00 flat rate for repair but was kind enough (after asking for a supervisor/manager) to repair at N/C. When the unit was returned there was a notice that the unit should not be exposed to high temperatures..Hard to do in South Florida mounted on a center console boat, the elements are what they are. If the company cannot design a product for the real world usage they should state as much on the product, ie. must be used in a sheltered location. I was also disappointed the flush mount kit costs $[...], kind of steep for a gasket and a couple of screws, when it could be easily included. (another thing they could put on the box to save a trip to the retailer again)Also the retailers do not carry many of these so you have to order online and wait for delivery....[...]The unit it self was easy to use, slightly complicated to install, and had a clear display...Would not buy the lowrance chip as the navionics can be used on other manufacturer's plotter.

Comments about Lowrance LMS-337C Dual Frequency Fishfinder & WAAS GPS Chartplotter Combo Outfit:

It has met my expectations and more, a very solid performer in the field of affordable marine electronics that rival the more expensive ones. I love how easy it is to use, how sharp the picture is in the daylight and how accurate the sonar depicts the underground structure. I can't really find anything wrong with the unit, except make the screen a little bigger for those who need reading glass's, extend the warranty from one year to 3, like some of it's competitors, if they really believe in their product.

I own a restored Formula F233C 23 foot runabout.I use a 5-inch screen GPS unit.I have been looking to upgrade my year 2000 b/w GPS/Depth Sounder/ChartPlot unit for over two years. The difficultity for me was understanding the hardware and software features of each MFG. The final factor for me in choicing the LMS 337c was it kept the depth shown on the chart even while I zoom out and that I can propgram a 'steering pointer' on my postion arrow. These two features in addtion to all the other standard features of the unit where important to me. The Lowrance LMS 337c with the Gold software upgrade has made all the difference for me.I could not be more pleased with my unit.Good luck in your selection.David AvedesianAnnapolis, Maryland

Comments about Lowrance LMS-337C Dual Frequency Fishfinder & WAAS GPS Chartplotter Combo Outfit:

This is my first chartplotter. I previously owned a trac plotter and this is like night and day in how easy to use and clear it is to navigate. I bought a navionics chart card that provides incredible detail, and am amazed how easy it is to use an actual chart with the track overlayed on it. It is easy to read at night with it's backlight feature and can even be read in daylight without shading the screen, a real benefit over previous models. And I now save all my fishing tracks in the units memory and it is amazing how often I catch fish in the same places. It can save up to 100 different trails or 1000 different waypionts.
It came in really handy when I was trapped in a fog this year, with only about 10 yards visibility. I navigated my way back to my harbour using only the chartplotter track, the depth readings from the sounder, and the sounds of a few nav aids with out any trouble. I would have been stuck blind out there all morning anchored without the GPS chartplotter. It's readings were so accurate I came within feet of previous nav aids I had passed on the way out!
This color depthsounder replaced my separate b&w L.C.D model, and is unbelievably better. I can discern bottom countour and type (rocky, seaweed, hard, soft etc. much easier with the color information, and fish show up and are enhanced by the units Fish-reveal feature. I use the depth warning alarm to warn me of shallows approaching when river-running, and the unit has an anchor watch feature to warn of a drifting anchor.
It is very easy to use the color sounder to identify fishy botom countours and suspended fish, something that has made my fishing productivity increase. I really like everything about this unit and it fits my small center console easily.
I thought it was a little expensive originally, but now I'd gladly pay even more than I did for this great unit.
