Comments about Petbuckle Petbuckle Universal Travel Kit:

The "universal" size, which claims to fit dogs weighing 10lbs and up (or 14" chest size and up) is most definitely too large for my little dog! She weighs 10lbs, 8ozs (according to the vet) and has a chest size of 15.5 inches, so I thought she was well within the "universal" size stated in the "travel kit" packaging (which I notice is no longer on the manufacturer's website or described in detail on many other sites). The travel kit included the kwik-connect tether. There was no "small breed" option--only the "universal" option.

My dog, though on the small end, is easily within the "universal" range, however this thing is VERY bulky and heavy and completely unsuitable for my little terrier-mix. I'm an inexperienced pet owner but know there's NO way small dogs could be comfortable in this product. The length of the plastic part of the "seat belt"-looking buckle alone is just over 3.5" across the entire buckle unit (and there are two, connected by a strap!). A rubber piece holds the belts together where they cross and lies in the center of the chest in a diamond shape is 3" diagonally--FAR too big for even a 15.5" chest, IMO.

In one of my pictures, the harness is not adjusted down to fit her (so looks even bigger), however you can see the two buckles (beginning near back leg, underneath the chest part), which are not adjustable from one end of one buckle across the center back strap section to the other end of the other buckle (11.25" total). The second pic shows the size of the D-ring (2" across) on the back compared to the d-ring (.75" across) on her "normal" harness (used x2 on the "normal" harness).

Having said all of that, the design seems clever, and the construction and quality seem to be excellent. Not sure what the "small breed" harness is like, just know the "universal" is NOT right for my small dog, even though she's within the size/weight range!
