I use the spike mostly for lashing with seine twine and doing fancywork. It's remarkable strong, never even noticed flex. Feels good in the hand because of it's light weight and smooth shape. The slight overall curve helps with leverage and the shackle opener is terrific. If the shackle pin fits in the opening,this tool will get it free!
I've worked with the same one for five years and used it heavily. Very good product.
