Comments about Humminbird Humminbird AS WX-1 XM Weather Receiver:

I was very disappointed after I purchased my Humminbird AS WX-1 Weather Receiver. No one tells you up front the cost of the subscription service to use the Receiver. The $9.99 monthly subscription is a waste of money. Reading the weather report in the news paper or listening to television or radio weather reports will give you more information than it will. The $29.99 monthly subscription will give you live radar, if you have the correct Humminbird Fish Finders. The subscription process is a pain also. Once you subscribe XM automatically renews your subscription and charges your credit card. Personally, I would rather make that decision because in the winter I don't need the service. If you have money to throw away get you one and impress your friends. As for me I now have Weather Bug and Weather Channel on my smart phone and not only are they free but give me much more information, plus live radar.

Comments about Humminbird Humminbird AS WX-1 XM Weather Receiver:

Purchased this item recently, and it is nearly useless, and XM will even tell you that Navweather was never intended for fishing/boating.

About the only information that this gives you is cloud cover and precip intensity, and basic forecasts. The warnings are the same warnings that trigger your marine radio to switch to it's weather stations.

Is not compatible to XM's relevant fishing/boating information suct as bouy data, surface winds and temperatures. HD Doppler transmitions etc...

XM stated clearly that the Navweather package is intended for AUTOMOTIVE GPS's, and is intended to compliment their NavTraffic package by giving you storm readings in your car.

I haven't been this disappointed since saving for weeks as a boy to buy the Pocket Fisherman.

Maybe someday Humminbird will update their software to use with the more useful packages from XM, but after this latest round of disappointments I am seriously considering Lowrance even with all it's problems.
