I have a pontoon boat that was getting overtaken by mildew on the seats. I bought this cleaner to remove the mildew, and it worked great. Spray on, wipe with a towel and rinse and the mildew was gone. On a few areas, I had to use a small scrub brush (along seams and in corners), but it still came clean very easily.

This is a great product, a bit on the expensive side though... To be honest, I could not wait for the arrival of this bottle, and went ahead with a less fancy version from a local home supply store. I picked one that said 'Mildew stain remover'.
Funny enough it worked too, and very effective too.
Obviously, the 3M has some additives to condition vinyl, and off the shelf products probably are more harsh.
Still, given 2 choices: 3M or other, I'd go with 3M.
