The Bombard story began in 1937 with the creation of the company L'Angeviniere, which specialized in manufacturing equipment for the Navy. Throughout the 1950's, the company's business was developing steadily when the company's surprise encounter with Dr. Alain Bombard introduced the military's long history of use of the inflatable boat to the general public. In 1952, Dr Alain Bombard decided to cross the Atlantic Ocean on his own, drifting off on a simple rubber boat with neither fresh water nor food supplies in order to verify the results of the research he carried out on man's survival on the high seas. 64 days and 12 hours after departing Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, he arrived in Barbados, proving not only that man could survive at sea, but also proving the seaworthiness and safety inherent in the inflatable boat. Soon after a range of boats was created bearing the name of the fearless doctor: craft designed for pleasure boating as well as commando boats for professional use. In 1980, Bombard-L'Angeviniere was purchased by Zodiac, bringing the world's two leading manufacturer's of inflatable boats together as one company.

Reinforced cone ends efficiently protect the cones against shock and wear, a heavy wooden transom welded to the buoyancy tubes (a Zodiac exclusive) gives unbeatable strength and ensures motor power is transmitted properly and efficiently, an engine support plate protects the transom from outboard motor clamps, and a heavy rubbing strake protects the boat against bumps and knocks. 5-year warranty.
