This product was easy to install and fairly easy use. My optional fuel flow sensor wasn't working so I called customer support and they told me what I was doing wrong in about 2 minutes. Excellent customer service. The fuel flow tells gallons per hour but not miles per gallon. It's hard to minimize fuel consumption without that information but what it provides at least lets me know exactly how much fuel I've used and how much I have left.
Biggest weakness is the maps. The provided maps have no detail and external navionics maps are not that smooth when transferring from one map to the next. It takes a few seconds for the screen to refresh.

This product was easy to install and is easy to use. I still have not explored all of its features. Very accurate and easy to read. My challenges with this product may be a personal issue, I am having trouble providing clean power to the unit. Every time I start my boat the unit shuts off. The rebate of a free card was very slow coming. The first attempt, they tried to send me the wrong product. It took well over a month for me to finally receive the card, and tracking its whereabouts was next to impossible.

This unit does everything Lowrance claims it will do. I've had mine since May 08 and use it primarily for fishing -- its worked perfectly. Easy to install and with the built in antenna my console isn't a mess of cables.
For the price, IMO, its a better value than the Garmin units -- even with the cost of a chip (which I do not have) the 527C works very well.
