This unit is easy to read in direct sunlight. Although GPS was a secondary requirement to the fish finder capability, I find myself using the GPS and depth features most of the time. It is very accurate and the depth finder has saved my boat and prop from damage in shallow water by utilizing the shallow water alarm. Most of my boating is in a river which tends to get rather shallow in spots.
The chartplot feature, which I knew nothng about before purchasing this unit is very handy. You can view prior routes, track backwards, and save your route to a JPG file for viewing after your trip. The back tracking feature is especially useful when returning from a river trip where there are multiple branches in the river to get lost in.
I purchased a RAM mount and therefore can adjust the unit for viewing when sitting or standing. I highly recommend this unit.

this product like most lowrance products does everything i need it to, and more!coulnt be happier ,wish i could be on the lake to use it more.since i got my 522c gps several of my freinds have got one for themselves they love it. I do wish the rebate would get finalized it has been a while .

I write Installation/Operation guides.
I find this I/O Guide not very user friendly.
However this piece of equipment works great once it is installed. Anyone can you it after it is installed, very easly.

This machine is not only an awsome fish finder,it has unreal definition of any lake and surrounding areas of lakes (roads,streets and boat landings). If you dont have one go somewhere and try one out ,you wont believe it.
