Installed the X96 at the helm of our Hunter 35.5 sailboat as we salmon fish. Used a simple epoxy mount on the inside of the hull which is working well. Next time we haul I will install a thru hull. Unit is easy to see in bright light, sensitive and has all the features I need for salmon fishing on Puget Sound.

This is an excellent fishfinder however the instructions to a novice are not clear enough to understand. Learning curve is long. Being a weekend bass fisherman I have little time to retain all of the intricacies until the next time I go out. I'm out to fish not play with settings.
Instructions need to be more simple for us novices.

I have owned many units over the 20+ years of tournament fishing, some of which cost A LOT more than this one. This is one of the best I've ever owned. Easy to use, accurate, adjustable to meet just about any need. I can't say enough about how much I have enjoyed this depthfinder.
