I use this on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. There are many rivers that run into this lake and there are many islands so it is easy to get turned around. It is a must when moving at night. Some of the reviews I've seen before I purchased mine said how this unit could not take the extreme heat...well mine has done fine, we have have had 3-weeks straight of 100+ heat and it is working quite well.

My kids and I were able to use the fish finder right out of the box. It showed the fish beautifully. We caught three bass and lots of big perch the first time out.

For the price, you can't go wrong. I've had mine for over 1 and half years. Also bought the battery pack so I can take it on friends' boats. I use rechargeable batteries and they last about 7-8 hours. Mostly use the GPS function then. On my own boat, the depth finder works fine. The map detail is what you'd expect [$]. It's charts almost all the islands I fish near that are more than 40 yards in diameter.

GPS function is easy to use although it could be a little more detailed. Knowing the depth of where you are going would be nice.

Comments about Lowrance Lowrance M68CS Compact WAAS GPS Chartplotter and Fishfinder with 3.5" Color Display:

My unit is about three years old. It has never really worked as a fish finder. It lacks sensitivity. With age it even loses capability as a depth finder. I would not recommend purchasing another unit. It may be a problem with corrosion on the leads or a bad transducer but its sensitivity is lacking. It is hard to see in the sun as I run it on a small center console with no T-top.

The GPS works well. Low definition charts are a help. Good value there but as I said before, the fishfinder portion is a big disappointment.

Comments about Lowrance Lowrance M68CS Compact WAAS GPS Chartplotter and Fishfinder with 3.5" Color Display:

I have bought two of these units and each has quit working after about a year. The Warranty is only a year long! It is absolutely weird how each of my units lasted only a year! I thought the first that I bought might be a flook, but the second did the exact same thing! Just stopped working after one year. Lowrance does repair for $[...], but what a crock! While it worked, this unit was very nice and helpful, but quality of these units is suspect! GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM!
