Despite being a good price for a VHF/Hailer, the instructions are poor and the radio is quirky. It will emit a 2 tone low frequency audible and cease working until you turn the channel selector. I have been over the manual many times and this audible signal is not explained. At times, you do not know if the radio is functioning or not.

This product has the features such as selective weather alerts and MMSI features that make it a no brainer on purchasing. With the addition of the WHAMx4 remote mike it make it ideal for uses where remote mike cables and connectors tend to be broken. Other features include an externial speaker connection as well as a hailer which can be programmed for Fog Horm operations. One problem is that when using the intercom feature one must increase the volumn control to hear conversation.
