Comments about Pelican Pelican Bayou 160 Canoe:
I use the canoe once a week during the summer months. In general the canoe is wearing well, the seats are a known issue and should be redesigned, be resolved to eventually replace the seats. Canoe is heavy 123# and 43" across the center. Rowing is a last resort particularly if you are alone. Canoe functions well with small outboard or larger trolling motor. The Bayou 160 is 16' 3" long and too large to tip over the cab of most pickup trucks, a small trailer is recommended. The rear seat is very far back and you will need to counter weight the front to keep it down in the water a bit more under power. I didn't particularly like the way it handled with two persons on board either. I think it would be a good boat for running trot lines or if you live on a body of water and didn't have to lug it around too often. All in all more of a heavy serious lake canoe and the hassle of transporting it really detracts from the recreational "fun" that I bought it for.
