I went though a vinyl cover every year. When the weather turned the least bit cold, the vinyl would become stiff and crack all over - making it not waterproof, and the cracked maze of vinyl pieces would peel off all over the deck. Trying to fold it up to stow it accelerated the cracking.

This cover material is lightweight, waterproof, does NOT crack, folds up easily for stowing-- not stiff. I am very pleased with it.
