The GPSMAP 232 has a 12-channel WAAS GPS receiver for the most accurate positions available. Designed for the harsh marine environment the GPSMAP 232 features a submersible display case and a bright high-resolution FSTN, 240 x 360 pixel screen. The backlit display and keypad provide for night time operation. The GPSMAP 232 includes a built-in worldwide basemap showing cities, interstates, coastline detail and US tide stations. For greater detail the GPSMAP 232 is also compatible with Garmin's exclusive BlueChart cartography and most MapSource CD-Roms including Fishing Hot Spots and MetroGuide. Garmin packed the GPS232 full of memory with 3000 waypoints with name and graphic symbols and 50 routes which hold 50 waypoints per route. Audible alarms for anchor drag, arrival, off-course, proximity waypoint and clock. Large number options make for easy viewing. Trip computer provides odometer, stopped time, moving average, overall average, total time and max speed. Position formats include Lat/Lon, UTM, Loran TDs, Maidenhead, MGRS and user grid. Garmin BlueChartTM Offshore Marine Cartography Complementing Garmin's new line of handheld mapping units and marine chartplotters, BlueChart cartography is designed to provide interactive viewing of detailed nautical chart data. BlueChart provides navigators with innovative object oriented cartography. Descriptive details for features typically found on nautical charts can easily be viewed with a simple key press. Cursor movements over the chart provide descriptions for contour depth, chart number, navaid name, and much, much more. When displayed on a Garmin chartplotter, BlueChart offers you a paper chart-like appearance. This data will include shaded depth contours, inter-tidal zones, spot soundings, wrecks, navaids, port plans, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages and more. Additionally, BlueChart includes chart numbers, name, scales, revision dates and Notice to Mariner dates.
