Just like the GPSMAP 162 it has a four-level gray-scale screen that provides top viewing quality while the powerful 12-channel GPS receiver delivers the accuracy you need to get where you're going. Simple, menu-driven operations make it easy to navigate or search for drop-offs on the fly. Again, like the GPSMAP 162, the 168 has navigational features such as; 500 alphanumeric waypoints and 20 reversible routes with 30 points each, Lat/Lon or TD coordinates, NMEA interface, and a built-in basemap with the option to upload/download data from Garmin's MapSource CD-ROMs for even greater map detail (sold separately). All this plus Sounder features like, 200kHz, 150watts (RMS), 1200 watts (peak to peak), automatic bottom tracking, auto ranging, 2x and 4x zoom levels, split screen feature,3-level fish ID and Garmin's exclusive See-Thru technology, which basically means fish have no where to hide.
