Furuno's new 1712 is a high-performance 24nm compact LCD radar designed for smaller pleasure craft and fishing boats. The 7'' high-definition LCD display displays radar echoes in 4 shades of gray. The display is clearly visible in bright sunshine, and the backlit screen and keypad make night operation a breeze. The watertight display, meeting the U.S. Coast Guard's CFR-46 waterproofing standards, can be mounted in any open cockpit or flybridge without worrying about water damage. The 1712 can be interfaced with other instruments through two NMEA 0183 data ports. The 18'' low-profile radome has Furuno's new precision 17'' microstrip radiator, and with a 5.2 degree beamwidth, detects targets at a longer range, even in the worst weather conditions. The 1712 come with all the features you've come to expect from Furuno: EBL (Electronic Bearing Lines) and EVRM (Electronic Variable Range Marker); Echo trails for plotting targets; Guard zone alarm alerts you to potential danger; Automatic sensitivity and anti-clutter controls for a constant clear picture. Three operating modes: ''Normal'' puts your boat at center mid-screen; ''Off-Center'' expands the forward view; ''Watch Mode'' turns on the radar at pre-set intervals and alerts you if targets appear.
